Being read = No loneliness?

Why do people write blog? Why do some people keep writing blog every single day?
I can only think of the following reason:
- They are lazy to send update email to all the friends/relatives so they write blog and everyone who wants to will come over to read what's happening in their life
- They have too much time besides work and social life so they spend time in writing blog
- They are too busy to meet friends/relatives in person so that they just write blog instead of meeting all of them and talk
- They are afraid of forgetting everything happening right now so they want to remember it by writing it on blog everyday just like keep diary
No matter what the reason is, people who write a blog expect to be read. Why do people want to be read? Does that make us feel more popular and less lonely? Does that help us to be connected with people more regardless of the timezone and geograpgy boundary? Does that help us to have better management on killing time?
What is the whole blog thing all about?
Why you blog?
Why don't you blog?

Lots of questions... do you have any answers? :)

Blogs are a blank piece of paper, you write on it anything you want to write about; your world views, your life story, random thoughts about life, your adventures etc.

I can answer for myself; blogs are fun. The only reason why I blog is because the concept of story telling fascinates me and I want to develop my story telling skills. I also enjoy reading what other people have to say on their blogs, it provides me a real, live snapshot of their life... and I prefer it to an email "update" that is done once every few months and sent to everyone in the address book. Blogs also are easier to read than email updates and signficantly improve information.

It also doesn't take very much time to make a blog posting... it's perhaps for some people a way to just express themselves and for the reader to see the world through their eyes.

I start blogging because a guy called Devrim told me that I should tell my stories so here I am. :)

Then about every 2 days or so, I would be thinking, hmm.. what to post on my blog? It is funny as somehow I feel I "have to" blog because my readers will expect me to do so. It kinda has become a "conditioning" to me. Not sure if that is healthy.... hmmm...

I think whatever reason you have to blog is ok, lah!
In my case I started blogging because someone invited me to do so, then si started reading other people's blog and feeding off them and then I discovered my style of blogging and here I am sharing my weirness with everyone. (Some like it, though!) :)
I blog because I think is a cool way of sharing what's going on in your life at a very particular moment in your life: THE NOW.
It is an interactive diary.
I think it is also a responsibility. YES. I do not think this community of NOMAD people has an "average Joe" lifestyle, and it is fun to see what other people do with their weirdness. Some people get inspired and go for living their dreams and adventures, so do we.

Blogging... Well, I am not the one who follows the crowd and do what everybody is doing... I used to write all the stories happened to me and my life here in a Word file and send my friends in Turkey/Kyrgyzstan to share. But then I saw Devrim's blog and was impressed by his way of blogging, so I thought Why not?! also I enjoy to read Jane's blog. so finally I decided to open my own blog Silk Road Nomad. I don't blog often, just when I feel like to share something. Especially photos :-). That's it. For more info about me please visit www.aibasoft.com and http://photos.yahoo.com/aibek_dunaev.
