signal 8

My 1st "Typhoon Experience" in Hong Kong.

Living on the 46th floor (actually 50th in terms of the actual height) is pretty scary when typhoon hits. There is no tall building in front of my flat so the strong wind and heavy rain can directly hit on the big window in my room. Last night I worried badly that the wind would blow off my window and I would be gone in the typhoon eye. (sorry sounds very dramatic but that was really what I thought last night!)

They use different number to show how dangerous the typhoon is and the possible damage it can bring. When the signal goes up to 8, people get a day off for work and school. Today we got a day off. Now the number goes down to 3 and some people are leaving their houses and going to work.

That's another good thing about Taiwan - when we get a typhoon day off, we get a typhoon day off. No way I am going to work now. :-P
